Berkeley Hostel at Piedmont House happily reports that the great majority of our guests are pleased with our facility, staff , fellow guests, and services. The few negative remarks received relate to:
*Neighborhood noise (we are in the fraternity district, and there are often Friday/Saturday parties in the area, and occasional other noise outbreaks).
*No private baths (which we fully disclose on the website...but with two bathrooms per floor, there is hardly ever any wait). *Funky furnishings (our beds are comfortable, but we do have a miscellany of furnishings, and each room is "one of a kind").
*Cleanliness issues (this was a very early comment from our first month in business, and we are doing our best to keep the areas scrupulously cleaned....however, there is the occasional thoughtless guest that leaves a mess).

Thank you for your friendly aproach and good landlordship while our stay in your house. Your house has got very warm atmosphere. We also had a chance to meet the Web Master (Chinese guy whom I can't remember his name as I lost his e-mail address). Could you also please send his name and e-mail address as I promised him to send the web site of the next SMMIB conference which will be held in India.
I couldn't see you on Friday night (April 13). Next morning (Saturday, April 14) I left the house very early in the morning (4:50 am) by Bay Porter, Therefore, I have no opportunity to thank you face to face.

Piedmont House is a great place to stay in Berkeley! I was there a month. Rosko, the manager, is extremely personable and accommodating. I was very happy with the room and all the fine people I met there, and the house is only a short walk from UC Berkeley and many restaurants and cafes. I recommend Piedmont House wholeheartedly! -Paul S.

I fully recommend Piedmont House to anyone planning to stay in Berkeley and who doesn't need the trappings of a full price hotel. I stayed there for a week when I moved to Berkeley and it provided a perfect base for me to get to know Berkeley and begin to meet people. Rosko, in particular, was incredibly helpful in helping me get set up and answering all my questions about life in Berkeley. The assistance I received in organizing transport from SFO to Piedmont House was way beyond the call of duty. very much appreciated. Can't recommend the place highly enough! --Devin S.
